About our practice

Mid-Ohio Heart Clinic's system of specialty health care may differ significantly from your previous experiences with other physicians

As consulting physicians, we perform many specialized procedures that are often not available elsewhere. Because these special services demand a considerable amount of expertise and time, we practice as a group rather than as individual physicians.

Our group practice allows us to provide patient care in the office as well as in the hospital simultaneously, to perform special cardiac studies and procedures, to be available for emergency heart problems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and to consult readily with each other on your case.

The mission of our physicians and staff is to exceed expectations and provide you with the most knowledgeable and sophisticated care available in an efficient and cost-effective health care setting.

To provide this, we rotate hospital responsibilities; therefore, hospitalized patients may be treated by several of our physicians during a prolonged hospital stay. For office visits, our goal is to have you see the physician with whom you are familiar; however, occasionally scheduling conflicts arise. In this instance, you will see another cardiologist in the group or our nurse practitioner who closely consults with the physicians and who has access to your complete medical file allowing this physician to provide you with comprehensive, informed care.

Mid-Ohio Heart Clinic is affiliated with MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, Bucyrus Hospital, Ashland Samaritan Regional Health System and Galion Community Hospital.  We also have satellite offices in Ashland, Bucyrus, Galion and Mt. Gilead, Ohio. Please check with our appointment schedulers for available hours.

Our Physicians

Andrew Fahmy, M.D., F.A.C.C

Dr. Fahmy is a native of Mansfield, Ohio. A graduate of Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio, he received his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He served his residency at Saint Thomas Medical Center in Akron, Ohio and his fellowship in Invasive Cardiology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Fahmy holds a Board Certification in Cardiology. He joined the Mid-Ohio Heart Clinic in 1996 where he practices both Invasive and Noninvasive Cardiology.

Gregory M. Eaton, M.D.

Dr. Eaton is a native of Columbus, Ohio where he graduated from Columbus Academy. He received his undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University and his medical degree from Ohio State University. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Iowa. Subsequent to completing general and interventional cardiology fellowships at OSU he became a faculty member and associate professor. At OSU he served as cardiac catheterization lab director for three years. He was Chief of the Division of Cardiology at OSU. He anticipates working with academic institutions and industry to continue investigative trials at Mid-Ohio Heart which will bring the newest, most promising technology in cardiovascular disease management to the North Central Ohio region. He joined the Mid-Ohio Heart Clinic in 2001. Dr. Eaton is the Medical Director for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at MedCentral Health Systems in Mansfield. His special skill and expertise is with interventional coronary artery revascularization procedures. Dr. Eaton is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Eaton was named to America's Best Doctors list 2003-2011.

James P. Bacon, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. James Bacon is a native of Columbus, Ohio. He attended Wittenberg University and earned his degree in medicine from the Ohio State University, College of Medicine. He also completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at Ohio State. Dr. Bacon has been on the faculty at OSU for thirteen years where he has been the Director of the Coronary Care Unit and Inpatient Services Division of Cardiology. Dr. Bacon joined Mid-Ohio Heart Clinic in 2001. His primary interest is in the field of Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Bacon is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology.

Mary E. Alton, M.D.

Dr. Mary Alton is a native of Mansfield, Ohio. She is an alumnus of St. Peter's High School, where she was valedictorian. She attended the University of Dayton where she graduated magna cum laude. Her medical education was obtained with honors from the Ohio State University. She also completed internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at OSU. She has been on the faculty at OSU for nine years where she was medical director of the noninvasive cardiac testing facility. Her interests are specialized echocardiography, nuclear testing and women's heart health. Dr. Alton joined Mid-Ohio Heart Clinic in 2001. Dr. Alton is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and has an added qualification in Echocardiology by the American Society of Echocardiography.

Gregory C. Heins, D.O.

Dr. Gregory Heins is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1996. Dr. Heins completed his fellowship in cardiology at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey, where he was chief fellow. Dr. Heins joined Mid-Ohio Heart Clinic in 2003.

Robert Drake, D.O., F.A.C.O.I.

Dr. Robert Drake is a native of Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Drake earned his medical degree from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio in 1997. Dr. Drake completed his internal medicine residency in 2000 at St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, where he was named chief medical resident for 1999-2000. Dr. Drake completed his fellowship in cardiology at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills, New Jersey.

Stephen Lenehan, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Stephen Lenehan hails from Akron, Ohio. He is a graduate of Firestone High School and the University of Akron. He graduated from The Ohio State School of Medicine where he was a classmate with Dr. James P. Bacon. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Riverside in Columbus. He stayed in Columbus for one year as a hospitalist at Mount Carmel- St. Ann's Hospital. Then he moved to Cleveland where he completed his cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He has been in practice in Mansfield since 1988 and joined Mid Ohio Heart in 2008. He has a special interest in congestive heart failure and hyperlipidemia. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

Donna Gorenflo, RN, MS, NP-C

Donna received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Marion Technical School in Marion, Ohio.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capitol University, Columbus, Ohio.  She then received her Master’s of Science and Adult Nurse Practitioner degree at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. Donna is certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Donna’s experience includes critical care in Marion, Ohio.  She was the first Nurse Practitioner in Ohio to establish hospital based private practice.  Donna has special interests in cardiology and Heart Failure Management. She started the Heart Failure Program at Marion General.
